Cape Town, South Africa — A YouTube video of WWE Superstar Randy Orton being attacked by a member of the audience has spread like virus on news and social mediaon Tuesday. The video was shot by a fan present at the event.

The video contained the wrestler standing on the turn buckle, facing the crowd. Then, a man suddenly walks into the ring. In seconds, the fan reached for Orton and gave him a blow on his groin coming from behind.

Although incidents like this happens from time to time, where fans attack wrestlers, the video came with a YouTube comment posted by AttitudeForLife:

“The guy that hit Randy was an actual wrestler in South Africa. He said he did that because he hates Orton very much. Well if you hate him that much then why don’t you just face him one on one and see who’s the better man, I mean you’re both wrestlers, so why not? Why? Because the guy is a pussy and douchebag.”

WWE has issued an official statement regarding the incident that said:

“WWE.com has learned that Randy Orton was violently attacked by an audience member during a SmackDown World Tour Live Event in Cape Town, South Africa, this evening. Footage of the attack was captured by a WWE fan and posted to YouTube, and shows the perpetrator striking Orton from behind. The matter is currently under investigation by the local authorities, and the South African fan is being held in jail pending criminal charges. The extent of Orton’s injuries are unknown at this time.”
